The Brihadeeshwara Temple at Thanjavur is the site of Peruvudaiyar Nrithyanjali– an annual dance festival organised around the month of February or March every year,Before a Week of the Hindu festival of Mahashivaratri.Major classical Indian dance artists, as well as regional teams, perform their repertoire at this awe-inspiring dance festival Peruvudaiyaar Nrithyanjali over 3-5 days.The Nrithyanjali Dance Festival is a grand celebration of culture and divinity which invokes the Almighty Lord Brahadeeshwara (Lord Shiva, the greatest Cosmic Dancer) of Hinduism. The dance festival brings together classical Indian dancers from all parts of the India. Over the course of 3-5 days days, the Peruvudaiyar Nrithyanjali dance festival features major classical Indian dance performers as well as local teams performing various art forms, including Bharatanattiyam, Kuchipudi, Mohini Aattam, Kathak, Folk arts and much more.
